ABOUT OUR CENTRE
At Special Learners, we are committed to spirited learning, growth, development and fun. We empower our special needs students to ask insightful questions through verbal and gestures practices, explore disciplinary boundaries, and confront conventional ways of thinking.

We believe in creating a very loving and supportive environment to our students. We want to provide them with the proper nurture and care to facilitate faster development so they can go back to a normal school. At same time, we foster close knit relationships with our parents because we consider them as family.

Our Story

We are Husband & Wife working as Occupational Therapists in the field of pediatrics and have been in practice for more than 2 decades.
When we had our 2nd son, Mars, we are so excited of his future. And as an Occupational Therapist, we noticed that he has a delay with his motor movement and speech.

He wasn’t crawling properly and was not pointing and communicating, we waited and don’t want to jump into conclusions and hoping it might go away (we were at the stage of denial) but it became apparent when he turned two years old. We concluded that our son has Autism or ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).

The future of him going to school dawned on us. We got worried of him not being able to cope up in life which some parents with special needs child encounters.

From there we decided to start Early Intervention Programme and opened Special Learners to enrol him in and teach him ourselves, the word spread out within the special needs community and we got other children to join in as well.

Through our professional and parent approach we created a programme that focuses on the child’s way of being.
We are committed to spirited learning, growth, development, fun and love. We empower our students with special needs to ask insightful questions either through verbal or gestures, explore disciplinary boundaries, and confront conventional ways of thinking.
At the moment, we are happy with how Mars and the other kids are progressing with their skills. We are proud to say that most of them are attending regular schools in Singapore as well as in the Philippines.
They are starting to open up and enjoy playing with their peers and are able to integrate gradually within the community.

Our worry of their future has given us parents a glimmer of hope and inspiration.

That is why we believe that all children learn in their own special way.
